Strips sewn - they are laid on a navy backing which I will use as the edge pieces.
i am liking the contrast of navy sashing and bright blues - i think the navy thread for quilting will darken these down and pull the whole thing together
Fabric cut - there's enough for 6 strips - about 5 and 3/4 inches wide. variable lengths from 2 to 4 and 1/2 inches. I love not having a pattern - but how hard is it to get the strips random - and looking random... there will be some rearranging no doubt - but i feel like it will be flowing as the tones are all complimentary (even if in the photo they may appear not to be)
The plan is to have a blue quilt ....with dark blue sashing .... and even quilt in blue thread. I am feeling my way with colour and texture ( the anniversary quilt gave me some confidence!)
The back will be navy panels with splashes of colour. this is the first strip/coin quilt I have tried - so wish me luck...
I LOVE sewing - it just makes me happy - and recently started quilting which I haven't tried since hand piecing hexagons when I was 8 or so - please click on my blog below and let me know what you think
